A law firm in New York City is seeking a qualified Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with 3-8 years of experience in patent prosecution. The ideal candidate will interface with clients and inventors throughout the patent process, preparing, filing, and prosecuting patent applications internationally. The role involves conducting various analyses on freedom-to-operate, infringement, and patentability. A strong educational background in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or a related field is required, along with a JD from an ABA-accredited law school. The candidate must be admitted to the USPTO and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Duties:

  • Interface with clients and inventors at all stages of the patent process.
  • Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications in and abroad.
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate, infringement, and patentability analyses.
  • Assist in other responsibilities or projects, as requested or needed.

Requirements:

  • 3-8 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • A degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of machine learning, molecular biology, and sequencing technology.
  • Familiarity with gene editing, immunology, microscopy, and systems biology is a plus.
  • Graduated with a JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the USPTO.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in team settings.

Education:

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the USPTO.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in team settings.
