Job Overview:
A well-established, multi-state law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Wilmington, North Carolina office. This opportunity is ideal for a motivated litigator with at least five years of experience, particularly in insurance defense. Location:

Duties:

  • Review new case files to establish strategy, timelines, and budgets

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda

  • Delegate and oversee discovery responsibilities, including document production

  • Conduct and attend depositions, hearings, and related discovery events

  • Maintain ongoing client and team communication

  • Negotiate settlements and prepare for trial when necessary

  • Report thoroughly on case developments and strategy execution

  • Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and fellow attorneys

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience (insurance defense preferred)

  • Strong legal writing and analytical skills

  • Effective organizational and case management abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; willingness to learn firm database systems

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of North Carolina (required)
