A law firm seeks a Trial Attorney for their Irvine, CA office.

Job Overview:

The Trial Attorney will primarily focus on litigating unlawful detainer actions in California state courts (Orange County, Riverside, and San Bernardino) for property owners and managers. The role involves providing legal counsel, depositing, and preparing all pre-trial motions and documents. The ideal candidate should possess strong oral advocacy and legal writing skills and a proactive approach to client communication and business development.

Duties:

  • Litigate unlawful detainer actions in California state courts (Orange County, Riverside, and San Bernardino) on behalf of property owners and managers.
  • Defend and conduct depositions.
  • Provide legal advice through phone consultations, assessing the facts and issues of each scenario, and counseling clients accordingly
  • Respond to client questions and concerns to increase and retain business
  • Work with legal staff to ensure all pre-trial motions, pleadings, and discovery documents are prepared and completed

Requirements:

  • J.D. degree
  • Active California Bar license
  • 2+ years of trial experience, preferably with jury trial experience
  • Strong oral advocacy skills
  • Strong legal writing skills
  • Ability to work with people of all educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds with differing communication abilities
  • Knowledge of unlawful detainer law
  • Contact and relationships within the rental housing industry
  • Federal Court (CA Central) admission and knowledge of Bankruptcy law

Education & Certifications:

  • J.D. degree
  • Active California Bar license
  • Federal Court (CA Central) admission (preferred)
