A law firm seeks a skilled associate attorney to join its Greenville office, focusing on transactional matters spanning corporate governance, estate planning and probate, and real estate transactions. This role offers an opportunity to collaborate with seasoned partners and serve a diverse clientele in a dynamic, supportive environment.

Duties

  • Advise clients on formation, restructuring, and governance of business entities

  • Draft and negotiate a variety of corporate agreements, including purchase/sale documents, joint venture arrangements, and operating agreements

  • Prepare comprehensive estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives

  • Guide executors and beneficiaries through probate proceedings, including court filings and asset distribution

  • Conduct title examinations, draft purchase contracts, leases, and easements, and oversee closings for commercial and residential real estate matters

  • Perform due diligence reviews in mergers, acquisitions, and property purchases

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop strategies, manage timelines, and oversee junior staff or paralegals on complex projects

  • Communicate regularly with clients to explain legal options, gather information, and update them on progress

Requirements

  • Transactional legal experience encompassing corporate, estate planning/probate, and real estate matters

  • Proven ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong drafting skills and attention to detail for all transactional documents and filings

  • Demonstrated proficiency in legal research and the ability to apply evolving regulations and statutes to client situations

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with comfort in working directly with clients, title companies, financial institutions, and court personnel

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in the South Carolina Bar (must be in good standing)

  • Additional bar admission in neighboring jurisdictions is a plus, but not required

  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities, including the capacity to explain complex legal concepts in clear, client-friendly terms

  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with an aptitude for prioritizing tasks and delegating to support staff when appropriate

  • Collaborative mindset, demonstrating the ability to work closely with partners, associates, and support personnel

  • Proficiency with transactional software and standard office technology (e.g., Microsoft Office suite, legal research platforms)
