IP Litigation Associate

Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a highly qualified Intellectual Property Litigation Associate with 2–4 years of experience to join its growing IP Litigation and Technology practices. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-stakes patent disputes and related proceedings, including PTAB trials. The ideal candidate will have hands-on litigation experience and a technical background in engineering or computer science. 

Location:

• Providence, RI

Duties:

• Manage multiple phases of IP litigation, including discovery and motion practice

• Oversee document production and review processes

• Conduct and attend discovery meet-and-confers

• Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts

• Collaborate with technical experts on the preparation of expert reports

• Draft legal memoranda, dispositive motions, and persuasive trial briefs

• Assist in proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), including inter partes reviews (IPRs)

• Work directly with senior litigators and clients on high-profile matters

Requirements:

• 2–4 years of patent litigation experience at a reputable law firm or IP boutique

• Demonstrated ability to manage discovery and complex litigation tasks

• Experience in PTAB trial proceedings is preferred

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction of the primary office location (Texas bar preferred if based in Houston)

• USPTO registration preferred but not required

Skills:

• Strong academic credentials

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Technical background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred

• Highly organized, responsive, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
