A law firm in San Diego is seeking a Labor and Employment Associate Attorney with expertise in employment litigation and comprehensive knowledge of State and Federal fair employment laws, wage-hour laws, FMLA, and related regulations. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in case preparation related to employment matters before state and federal agencies and courts, and possess the ability to handle matters independently with minimal guidance.

 

Duties:

  • Handle employment litigation matters before state and federal agencies and courts
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and responses in federal and state court
  • Conduct legal research on labor and employment laws and regulations
  • Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation and evidence gathering
  • Attend hearings and represent clients in negotiations and mediations
  • Respond to discovery requests and manage document production
  • Advise clients on employment-related matters, including terminations, discrimination claims, and wage disputes
  • Provide guidance to clients on compliance with labor and employment laws
  • Collaborate with partners and other team members on case strategy and client matters
  • Maintain accurate and timely billing records

 

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in labor and employment law
  • Strong academic credentials from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the State Bar of California
  • Expertise in State and Federal fair employment laws, wage-hour laws, and FMLA
  • Proven track record of successful case management and trial preparation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the State Bar of California
