A law firm seeks a Bio Patent Counseling Associate Attorney for its Charlotte, NC office. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of patent counseling and prosecution experience, hold a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline, and be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Experience representing biotech companies and investors in strategic international patent portfolio development, life cycle management, non-infringement and invalidity analysis, post-grant proceedings, and IP due diligence is essential. Prior pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus.

Job Overview:

Duties:

  • Conducting strategic international patent portfolio development for biotech companies and investors.
  • Managing the life cycle of patents, including prosecution, non-infringement, and invalidity analysis.
  • Representing clients in post-grant proceedings and intellectual property due diligence.
  • Providing legal counsel on patent-related matters to clients in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Collaborating with attorneys and clients to develop effective patent strategies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4+ years of patent counseling and prosecution experience.
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Experience representing biotech companies and investors.
  • Strong knowledge of patent law and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
