A law firm in Menlo Park, CA, seeks an Innovation and Technology Solutions Attorney to serve as a vital connection point between the firm's lawyers, clients, and the Technology & Information Services Department. The role involves ensuring that the firm's technology systems, tools, and services effectively meet the needs of practicing attorneys and clients while providing updates and analysis of new technologies and industry trends to firm management and practice group leadership.

Duties:

  • Act as a conduit between the firm's lawyers, clients, and the Technology & Information Services Department to ensure efficient technology systems and services utilization.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and innovative legal and non-legal offerings to ensure a state-of-the-art technology platform is available and fully exploited by the firm's lawyers.
  • Collaborate with practice group leadership and support staff to understand technology needs and develop strategies for improving efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage existing and emerging technologies into specific practices and coordinate pilot and proof of concept programs.
  • Work with Technology & Information Services Department management and firm leadership to make recommendations for strategic deployment of technology-related policies, software tools, and other technology-assisted solutions.
  • Communicate with third-party vendors to foster strong relationships and stay informed about new products and services.
  • Display knowledge and experience with scripting languages, front-end technologies, and database languages.
  • Demonstrate examples of innovating processes, products, or services in current or former employment or via activities outside of work.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience as a practicing lawyer in a law firm or in a legal operations role.
  • JD degree or an equivalent, with admission to the California State Bar.
  • Experience in a technology role, preferably.
  • Completion of an intensive software development/coding boot camp, preferably.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Advanced technology or technology-adjacent skills include coding, product management, and process optimization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with legaltech and general technology usage.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Dedication to continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends.
