Associate Attorney needed for New York City office

Job Overview: A law firm in New York City is seeking an Associate Attorney with a strong background in Personal Injury law to manage litigation caseloads, draft legal documents independently, appear in court, and interact with clients. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication, research, and negotiation skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

• Independently manage a litigation caseload efficiently from inception through resolution
• Draft complaints, pleadings, and motions
• Regularly handle court appearances and depositions
• Argue motions
• Appear on EUOs, 50h hearings, mediations, and arbitrations
• Interact with clients to determine case values, strategies, and settlement decisions
• Review discovery documents and determine the best course of action for clients in each case
• Properly and constantly document all events and communications
• Conduct comprehensive legal research
• Work closely with Attorney on legal projects

Requirements:

• JD from an accredited Law School
• Admitted to practice in State and Federal Court (NY)
• Admission to NJ is a plus
• Must have 3 years of experience with a Personal Injury Law Firm
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, Google, and familiarity with and/or willingness to learn other platforms and databases
• Excellent writing and research skills
• Proficient in Westlaw/Lexis
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Deposition experience (taking/defending)
• Excellent time management skills
• Excellent Computer and Phone Skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to build rapport with clients
• Organized and Self-Motivated
• Proficiency in negotiating settlements with insurance carriers
• Must be willing to travel to Court
• The ability to try a case is preferred
• Bilingual is preferred

Education and Certifications:
