A law firm in Charlotte is seeking a Junior-Mid Level Benefits Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of benefits experience in private practice. The ideal candidate will have experience with qualified retirement plans, health & welfare plans, and executive & deferred compensation arrangements. Supporting benefits and compensation in M&A, ERISA litigation, and withdrawal liability experience is a plus. The candidate must be detail-oriented and possess excellent writing, oral advocacy, communication, and legal analysis skills.

 

Duties:

  • Provide support for benefits and compensation matters
  • Handle qualified retirement plans, health & welfare plans, and executive & deferred compensation arrangements
  • Assist with benefits and compensation aspects of M&A transactions
  • Participate in ERISA litigation matters if necessary
  • Conduct legal research and analysis
  • Draft legal documents, including agreements and memoranda
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external clients, attorneys, and staff

 

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of benefits experience in private practice
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction

  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent writing, oral advocacy, communication, and legal analysis skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals
