A law firm in Memphis, TN, is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing individuals in various immigration matters, including removal proceedings, family-based cases, and asylum applications.

 

Job Details:

  • Represent individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court in Memphis (EOIR).
  • Appear with individuals before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for family-based matters, adjustment of status, and naturalization interviews.
  • Prepare asylum applications and appear with individuals at the Asylum Office for asylum interviews.
  • Conduct client meetings and consultations to assess immigration needs and provide legal advice.
  • Draft briefs, motions, affidavits, letters, and responses to requests for evidence/notices of intent to deny.
  • Manage a large caseload and meet deadlines efficiently, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
  • Comply with all legal and ethical standards, maintaining good standing with all Bar Associations.
  • Work outside normal office hours as needed according to caseload demands.
  • Prepare filings and manage various projects, ensuring timely completion.
  • Negotiate, prepare, and revise legal documents, including contracts and agreements.
  • Research legislative changes affecting immigration law and develop solutions to complex legal questions.
  • Regularly appear before USCIS for family-based interviews, adjustment of status, and naturalization.
  • Prepare and represent clients before the EOIR Memphis Immigration Court.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar license in good standing, or awaiting Bar Exam results.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Spanish (both written and spoken) is preferred.

 

Experience:

1+ years of work experience in the immigration field is preferred.
