Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Charlotte, North Carolina is actively seeking a driven and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join its dynamic litigation practice, focusing on intellectual property matters. This role is designed for attorneys with early career experience who are eager to work on a wide variety of complex legal disputes involving patents, trademarks, and related IP rights. The position offers a chance to be deeply involved in strategic case development, motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation within a collaborative and high-performing team.

Duties:

  • Contribute to all stages of intellectual property litigation, including patent and trademark cases

  • Conduct in-depth legal research and draft motions, pleadings, memoranda, and briefs

  • Assist in managing discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests

  • Support depositions, hearings, and trials, including preparation of exhibits and witness outlines

  • Work closely with senior attorneys on strategy development and client communications

  • Analyze and interpret IP-related technical materials and legal issues

  • Stay current on relevant case law and legal trends in the IP space

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience handling complex litigation matters, ideally in intellectual property

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines

  • Exceptional writing, analytical, and oral communication skills

  • Admission to practice law in North Carolina preferred or eligibility to be waived in

  • Familiarity with federal court procedures and IP litigation strategies

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in good standing

  • USPTO registration is advantageous but not mandatory

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational ability

  • Proven aptitude for working collaboratively and independently

  • Technological proficiency with legal research platforms and litigation support tools

  • Ability to understand and interpret technical subject matter in patent cases
