Lewis Brisbois Continues Building Labor & Employment Capabilities in Portland, Ore. with Experienced Partner Hire

Lewis Brisbois
Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Naomi Johnson to its Portland office as a partner in the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice. With nearly two decades of experience in the labor and employment arena, Ms. Johnson dedicates her practice exclusively to representing and counseling employers of all sizes in an array of matters, including agency charges, litigation, risk management, policy preparation, and training. She regularly represents employers in state and federal courts, as well as before the EEOC, the Oregon Bureau of Labor & Industry, and the Washington Human Rights Commission. In addition, Ms. Johnson advises clients on a range of employment-related issues, including disability accommodations, leaves of absence, discrimination and harassment, wage and hour matters, restrictive covenants, employee terminations, litigation avoidance, and employer policies.

In discussing her decision to join Lewis Brisbois, Ms. Johnson explained that the opportunity to represent management exclusively, as well as other aspects of the firm, appealed to her. “Lewis Brisbois has a stellar reputation, a lot of name recognition, and is a national firm with a Portland office,” she said, adding, “I’m coming in at a really interesting time, so there is a lot of opportunity. It feels very familiar here, which is nice. It feels like home.”

Likewise, Portland Managing Partner Eric Neiman explained, “Naomi is exactly the partner we want: talented, experienced, practical, and a proven problem solver. Her background with a wide range of labor and employment matters will benefit our clients and our national Labor & Employment Practice and enhance the high level of service we provide to clients not only locally, but throughout the country.”

Outside of her practice, Ms. Johnson is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), including within her local chapter, the Portland Human Resource Management Association. She received her law degree, summa cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School and her undergraduate degree from The George Washington University. She is admitted to practice in state and federal court in New York, Oregon, and Washington, as well as in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
