Experienced Corporate & Transactional Attorney Joins Sherman & Howard’s Denver Office

Sherman & Howard
Diana Devot has joined Sherman & Howard as an associate in the Corporate and Transactional practice group.

Devot spent the past several years working in mergers and acquisitions, securities, and general corporate areas of law, representing a variety of industries from pharmaceutical to personal fitness to oil and gas.

“We are very excited to have Diana as part of our team. Her significant mergers and acquisitions experience adds depth to our practice group,” said Lyle Wallace, practice group leader for Sherman & Howard’s Corporate and Transactional group. “Her combination of Chicago big firm and in-house experience is a beneficial attribute to our clients.”

A former hedge fund analyst and a small business owner, she brings a keen eye toward the legal complexities involving businesses of all sizes, corporate law, and SEC reporting. She especially enjoys working on mergers and acquisitions.

Diana feels like she found a good fit for her at S&H. “I felt an instant kinship with the people I have met at Sherman & Howard. I am impressed with the importance Sherman & Howard places on work-life balance for its attorneys and staff. This is a departure from many firms I have been exposed to and it tells me that I am valued here. Sherman & Howard already has a strong reputation among its peers, and I am proud to be a part of an organization that puts its people in such high esteem. I feel like I am joining a place where I am needed and where I have a purpose.”

Calling herself thorough and detail-oriented, she said she enjoys diving into and pouring over every detail of a company. “When it comes to mergers and acquisitions, you have to know the company inside and out. You learn how the widgets are made,” Devot said.

Devot began her law career in the corporate and securities practice group at a Chicago law firm, drafting documents for multimillion and billion-dollar deals. She worked for various Denver law firms before starting her own law firm, representing Colorado startups. At the same time, she owned a CrossFit gym for six years. She spent the past five years at a boutique law firm during the pandemic. In that time, she also gained her EMT and IV certification, which she now uses as a volunteer paramedic for a mountain rescue.
