Ogletree Deakins Establishes Immigration Practice in Northern California

Ogletree Deakins
Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that the firm has expanded its immigration footprint into Northern California with the addition of shareholder Yvonne Toy in the firm’s San Francisco office. Toy joins the firm from Corporate Immigration Partners, where she was a co-founder and partner. With Toy at the helm in San Francisco, the firm’s immigration practice is expected to grow quickly across northern California and the Pacific Northwest.

“Ogletree Deakins has experienced explosive growth in the firm’s business immigration practice over the past several years. Many businesses call San Francisco home, so the expansion of our immigration practice into the area is a natural step for our practice in order to best serve our clients,” said Matt Keen, managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins. “Yvonne’s dedication to client service, demonstrated experience, and established presence in the market make her a powerful addition to the firm’s immigration practice.”

With more than two decades of experience practicing business immigration law, Toy is an established leader in the field. Her experience includes oversight and development of a team of attorneys and paralegals that handles high-volume, complex visa transactions. In her practice, Toy guides corporate clients on all aspects of immigration program development, compliance management, and strategies for global talent mobility. She regularly handles nonimmigrant and immigrant visa applications, providing alternative, out-of-the box strategies for dealing with complex matters. Before joining Corporate Immigration Partners, Toy practiced at one of the largest U.S. immigration law firms and earlier served as an in-house attorney for the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where she managed their immigration and J-1 exchange visitor programs.

Toy is listed in the 2022 Lawdragon 500 Leading Corporate Employment Lawyers guide and is recognized as a Who’s Who Global Leader in Corporate Immigration. She is frequently invited to speak before the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Southern California Relocation Council (SCRC), and National Association of International Educators (NAFSA) and serves as faculty for several AILA online education modules. Toy earned her J.D. from New York Law School and her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley.
