Kirk Ogrosky, Top Trial Lawyer and Former DOJ Healthcare Fraud Enforcement Trailblazer, Joins Goodwin in Washington, D.C.

Global law firm Goodwin announced today that Kirk Ogrosky joined the firm’s Complex Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice as a partner, resident in the Washington, D.C. office. Ogrosky co-leads Goodwin’s Healthcare Government Enforcement & False Claims Act Defense group and is also a member of the White Collar Defense practice.

A nationally known trial lawyer and expert in healthcare fraud and False Claims Act matters, Ogrosky has spent over a decade in private practice, and previously served as the Deputy Chief of the Fraud Section in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Criminal Division. While at the DOJ, he was the senior prosecutor dedicated to criminal healthcare fraud enforcement and created the Medicare Fraud Strike Force.

“Kirk is one of the leading government enforcement and white collar criminal defense lawyers in the healthcare and life sciences industries,” said Deborah Birnbach, co-chair of Goodwin’s Complex Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. “His deep investigations and trial experience — from both a government and private practice perspective — will be an invaluable asset to our clients. We are pleased to have Kirk on our team as we continue to add depth to our healthcare platform and capitalize on the success of our market-dominant life sciences, technology, and private equity practices.”

“I am thrilled to join Goodwin and represent innovative healthcare, life sciences, and private equity clients in governmental enforcement and FCA matters,” said Ogrosky. “The firm’s collegial and collaborative culture is a great platform for the practice and the depth of talented lawyers is truly impressive.”

Ogrosky advises clients on a wide range of complex criminal, civil and corporate litigation, including healthcare fraud and abuse matters involving the False Claims Act and the Anti-Kickback Statute, as well as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He has represented pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, diagnostic testing companies, senior executives, directors, and physicians in both civil and criminal investigations by the DOJ and state Attorneys General. He has first-chaired federal jury trials in districts across the country and has taken over forty defendants to verdict.

Ogrosky was recently named Government Investigations Attorney of the Year by LMG Life Sciences for 2019 and has been highly ranked for healthcare by Chambers for many years. He has also been recognized by The Legal 500 US and Benchmark Litigation, among others.

Goodwin has been recognized as an industry leader in government investigations and enforcement and white collar defense by top publications including Chambers USA, The Legal 500, and Benchmark Litigation. Ogrosky is the latest addition to Goodwin’s existing team of former federal prosecutors from key U.S. Attorney’s offices and the DOJ.

Goodwin is consistently ranked by The Legal 500 United States and Chambers USA as a leading advisor for healthcare law across the country. Mergermarket has ranked Goodwin as the number one U.S. advisor for healthcare and life sciences M&A (by deal count), while PitchBook recently named Goodwin the number one global legal advisor (by deal count) for venture capital deals in the healthcare devices and supplies sector.
