Energy/Mass Tort Litigator Lauren Brogdon Joins Haynes Boone

Haynes and Boone, LLP has hired Lauren Brogdon as a Houston-based partner in its Energy Litigation Practice.

Lauren brings significant experience representing energy clients in suits related to hydraulic fracturing and other oil and gas operations, mass tort litigation arising from catastrophic industrial accidents, and toxic tort suits involving chemical exposure and environmental contamination. She has handled high-profile cases related to fires, chemical spills, pipeline explosions, and other disasters.

Lauren also handles a variety of complex commercial matters involving causes of action for breach of contract, fraud, negligence, nuisance and contractual and common law indemnity, among other issues. She has participated in more than a dozen trials, including in a first-chair capacity. Lauren previously worked in the Houston office of Norton Rose Fulbright.

“We are thrilled to bring on a lawyer of Lauren’s caliber,” said Partner David Ammons, head of Haynes Boone’s Energy Litigation Practice Group. “She possesses not only the skill, but also the judgment and composure to effectively manage litigation teams that defend clients in bet-the-company, mass tort actions.”

Lauren said she was drawn to Haynes Boone because of its growing energy litigation practice and collaborative work environment. “The lawyers are uniquely committed to rowing in the same direction, which inures to the benefit of Haynes Boone’s clients,” she said. “I also appreciate the firm’s demonstrated ability to develop young talent, including women and diverse lawyers, into leadership roles.”

Throughout the course of her career, Lauren has devoted significant time and resources to charitable activities and pro bono litigation. She has successfully represented dozens of clients in divorce and child custody suits and disputes involving domestic violence, a cause she cares deeply about. Lauren previously served as chair of Houston Volunteer Lawyers and was the youngest lawyer to ever serve in that role for the organization – the largest provider of pro bono services in Harris County. She also previously served as president of the Houston Young Lawyers Association and as a member of Norton Rose’s U.S. Pro Bono Committee.

For the past five years, Lauren has been named a Rising Star in the Texas Super Lawyers directory (Thomson Reuters), ranking as one of the state’s leading young lawyers in class action/mass torts. She writes and speaks frequently on litigation topics.

The lawyers in Haynes Boone’s Energy Litigation Practice Group regularly work on highly technical issues and commercial legal matters for some of the most recognizable names in the industry, and their experience includes litigation in state and federal courts across the U.S., as well as domestic and international arbitration proceedings.
