Carlton Fields Adds Agency Lending and Real Estate Attorney Thomas Scopelitis in New York
Scopelitis represents lenders in commercial real estate financing transactions, with an emphasis on multifamily housing transactions under the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae multifamily finance programs. He has significant experience with the full range of Agency loan products, including Fannie Mae’s Delegated Underwriting and Servicing (DUS) product line and Freddie Mac’s Capital Markets Execution (CME) program.
“Tom has a keen understanding of the Agency lending business as well as the substance of this complex practice,” said Gina Hough, who leads Carlton Fields’ Agency Lending Practice and is a former vice president and deputy general counsel at Fannie Mae. “He approaches every transaction with attention to detail, providing full-circle guidance and management for transactions of all sizes.”
Hough added, “We have a substantial number of clients and transactions in New York. Within Tom’s nationwide practice, he is licensed to practice and is a resident of New York. His addition allows our firm to meet the local and national needs of our clients and we are thrilled to welcome him.”
Scopelitis said, “Carlton Fields’ strengths align precisely with my own, making it an easy decision to join the firm. I was extremely impressed with the maturity and depth of the firm’s Agency Lending and Real Estate Practices. I look forward to providing value to Carlton Fields’ clients in New York and beyond.”
Scopelitis joins Carlton Fields from Troutman Pepper. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.B.A. from Hofstra University.
