Ogletree Deakins Grows New York Office, Traditional Labor Practice

Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, welcomes Sandi Dubin to the firm’s New York office as shareholder. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Sandi served as in-house labor and employment counsel for New York University (NYU) for 10 years. As lead labor counsel for NYU, she has advised on all types of labor relations matters arising under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) covering multiple bargaining units, and has served as chief negotiator for NYU in collective bargaining. In addition to her experience as a chief negotiator, Sandi has represented the University in labor arbitrations and matters before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

Sandi’s practice also includes handling novel, complex, and anticipated labor and employment legal matters. Sandi regularly provides advice and counsel on a myriad of labor and employment-related issues, including hiring, discipline, and termination, grievances, performance management, leaves of absence, disability and reasonable accommodations, discrimination and harassment complaints and investigations, reductions in force, wage and hour compliance, and workplace safety.

In addition to Sandi’s role as advisor and counselor, she has substantial litigation experience regarding matters of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wage and hour class actions as well as administrative agency charges and complaints.

“Sandi is a skilled counselor who possesses a wealth of experience and a proven ability to effectively manage time-sensitive and complex issues with a focus on maintaining compliance and positive employee relations,” said Stephen Macri, managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins’ New York City office. “Her commitment to providing first-class client service is aligned with the tenets of the firm’s Client Pledge and is just one of many attributes that make her a valuable and welcomed addition to the firm.”

Sandi is a frequent speaker and panelist in the higher education and legal industries on topics ranging from labor law trends to mental health and wellness. Sandi earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, and her B.A, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.
