Polsinelli Bolsters Miami Office with Addition of Real Estate Finance Attorney Dora Acherman
Acherman brings a nuanced insight into her legal work, having represented lenders and special servicers in real estate financing transactions as well as private owners, developers and investors in traditional real estate transactions and litigation.
“Dora has built a reputation for understanding and considering both the immediate needs as well as long-term concerns when she advises clients,” said Financial Services Division Chair John T. Duncan III. “We’re fortunate to be adding her broad range of experience to our roster as our national Real Estate Finance Practice thrives and grows.”
Clients rely on Acherman to navigate sensitive situations and appreciate the insights she brings to the negotiating table as a result of the multifaceted approach she uses in legal work, combining her legal experience with her background in research and social sciences.
“I’m pleased to be joining the team at Polsinelli and admire the stellar work they do for their clients,” said Acherman. “I look forward to growing my practice and collaborating with my new colleagues to continue that tradition of excellence.”
Acherman is the most recent addition to Polsinelli’s Miami office, which has nearly quadrupled its roster of attorneys – growing from six to more than 20 – since opening its doors just two years ago. The office has represented many of the largest and most prominent developments in Southeast Florida.
“As our Miami team continues to expand and evolve, especially within the areas of Real Estate and Financial Services, we are pleased to welcome Dora and her unique skillset,” said Miami Office Managing Partner J. Everett Wilson. “Her breadth of experience is ideal to help us meet unwavering demand in Florida and around the country.”
Acherman has represented special servicers of securitized loans in post-securitization transactions such as loan assumptions, loan and collateral modifications, consent transactions involving transfers of interests, easement agreements and condemnation proceedings. She has also represented lenders in requests for commercial lease approvals and negotiations of Subordination, Non-Disturbance and Attornment Agreements with large national commercial tenants and governmental entities.
Acherman earned her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Tel Aviv University and her master’s and Ph.D. from Florida International University before obtaining a J.D., magna cum laude, from Florida International University. Acherman was at Bilzin Sumberg before joining Polsinelli. She is fluent in English, Hebrew, Spanish, and Portuguese, her native language.
Acherman joins Polsinelli’s expanding Financial Services Division, which recently added Kristen E. Andreoli, Rafael A. Santos-Hernández and Jennifer L. Garrett to the New York office’s Real Estate Finance Practice and Seth M. Aigner in Chicago as a member of the firm’s national Capital Markets and Commercial Lending Practice.
