Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Grows Federal Government Relations Group With Financial Services and Cybersecurity Policy Specialist Emily Coyle
“Emily is a fantastic addition to our government relations practice, further expanding our financial services, cybersecurity and data privacy capabilities. Her extensive experience dovetails perfectly with our finance industry focus and we know our clients will benefit from her insight and perspective,” said Bob Shuster, shareholder and co-chair of Buchanan’s state and federal government relations group. “She is well-respected in both chambers of Congress, this Administration and across both parties and has a proven track record of building coalitions to help move policy.”
“I am thrilled to join Buchanan’s top-notch government relations team and have the opportunity to work with the cybersecurity and finance attorneys across the firm to help achieve our clients’ policy and legislative goals,” said Coyle.
Coyle spent a decade as the lead Democratic lobbyist at a Big Four accounting firm advancing public policy initiatives with Congress, the White House, federal regulators, leading industry trade associations and think tanks. She also represented the interests of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners before Congress and was Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s (D-FL-23) first legislative director, where she managed the Congresswoman’s busy legislative agenda, legislative staff, House Democratic Caucus responsibilities, House Rules Committee work, as well as the Congresswoman’s House Whip leadership role. She also led Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz’s Financial Services Committee work and co-led the Congresswoman's Judiciary Committee portfolio and responsibilities as Legislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee Chair.
Coyle received her Master in Public Policy from Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government and her B.A. in Political Science and International Affairs from The Ohio State University, where she graduated summa cum laude.
