Municipal Law Attorney Derra Purnell Joins BB&K
Best Best & Krieger LLP is pleased to announce that Derra Leigh Purnell has joined the firm’s Municipal Law practice group as of counsel. Purnell is a seasoned attorney who provides clients with litigation support and overarching legal counsel. She is particularly well-versed in ICC code compliance, public-private partnership agreements, procurement law, small cell node regulation and land-use issues faced by local governments.

Purnell advises on matters involving city services, operations, administration and more. At BB&K, she will focus specifically on work for the Port of Houston and other Texas-based clients, leveraging her repertoire of experience in the Southwest. Purnell most recently served as director of Legal & Development Services for the City of La Marque, Texas. She also previously held roles as deputy fire marshal and oil and gas inspector for the City of Farmington, New Mexico. In addition to her vast public sector experience, Purnell practiced law at Olson & Olson, LLP for more than five years.
Purnell earned her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. During law school, she interned in the public law section of the Harris County Attorney’s Office.
