Sussman Shank LLP is pleased to welcome Melanie Choch as Special Counsel in the firm's Business Department.
Melanie brings 22 years of experience as a diverse, highly-skilled business transactional attorney. She has served public, private and not-for-profit clients across many industry areas including media and entertainment, manufacturing, retail, telecommunications, food services, technology, health care, pharmaceuticals, professional services, and farming.
Melanie first had a lengthy legal career at the law firm Gowling WLG in Calgary, Canada. Her areas of focus included mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial transactions, debt and equity financing, procurement, and estate planning.
In 2012, Melanie served as Senior Legal Counsel for Alberta Health Services in Calgary, Alberta, the largest regional health authority in Canada. In that role, she serviced many corporate, operational, and clinical departments on a broad array of corporate and commercial matters. She also provided strategic advice to departments in the areas of policy development, audit, and risk management.
In 2017, Melanie started her own cross-border consulting business providing business advisory and legal consulting service to clients in Canada and the U.S. In 2020, she moved to Portland, Oregon to continue her consulting business. In addition to her consulting practice, Melanie also served as General Counsel for Sagamore Capital Advisors.
