Baker McKenzie strengthens tax practice with new hire and appointment

Dr. Raffaele Petruzzi joins Baker McKenzie's tax practice as counsel effective September 1, 2021. The tax law expert is also Managing Director at the Transfer Pricing Center of the Institute for Austrian and International tax law at WU Vienna. At the same time, Philipp Stanek, associate at Baker McKenzie in the tax practice, will be promoted to counsel effective since August 1, 2021.

As an international expert with a focus on international transfer pricing, Raffaele Petruzzi worked as of counsel for L&P Global (Vienna) and for Ludovici Piccone & Partners (Milan) before joining WU Vienna.

Since 2007, he gained extensive experience in dealing with issues such as international corporate taxation and transfer pricing in particular, both from a professional and academic perspective. Raffaele Petruzzi has relevant experience in advising clients on specific topics such as transfer pricing issues related to services, financing, intangibles, as well as international tax and transfer pricing risk management and compliance.

"As a new counsel in the tax practice and as a transfer pricing specialist, I want to contribute to the continued success of Baker McKenzie. The firm offers a unique global platform for my practice, with an excellent reputation in tax law and transactional business. I look forward to working with them", comments Raffaele Petruzzi on his move.

Philipp Stanek has been a member of Baker McKenzie's tax practice group in Vienna since 2016 and focuses on corporate tax, in particular on reorganizations, international tax planning, balance sheet taxes and transactions (M&A support, pre/post-acquisition restructurings and tax groups). He is a lawyer and tax advisor as well as a lecturer and author of numerous publications on corporate and tax law.

"Raffaele Petruzzi as new counsel is an excellent strategic addition to the tax practice in our Vienna office. We warmly welcome Raffaele and look forward to working with him," comments Prof. Dr. Christoph Urtz, head of the tax practice group of Baker McKenzie's Vienna office.

"With the tax team made up of Urtz, Petruzzi and Stanek, we now have an exceptionally strong tax practice as Baker McKenzie in Vienna," adds Prof. Dr. Dr. Alexander Petsche, Co-Managing Partner of the Vienna office.

Prof. Dr. Christoph Urtz has led the Vienna tax law team at Baker McKenzie since May 2015.
