Yuliya Shamailova Joins the Gibbons Corporate Group

Gibbons P.C. is pleased to announce that Yuliya Shamailova has joined the firm as an associate in the Corporate Group, resident in the Newark office.

Ms. Shamailova was most recently with the law firm of Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin & Dunham LLP in New York. In her career there, Ms. Shamailova reviewed and negotiated contracts for clients in the entertainment industry, which included drafting and reviewing employment contracts, endorsement deals, commercial ventures, non-disclosures, and cease and desists. She also advised clients on relevant matters and legal risks, working closely and collaborating with other team members, and ensured clients were in compliance with contracts and applicable laws and regulations. More broadly, she researched, summarized, and advised attorneys on issues in intellectual property and the entertainment industry; researched issues regarding labor and entertainment law on behalf of clients; and negotiated film and television agreements, appearances, and clip releases with opposing counsel.

During law school, Ms. Shamailova held student associate and legal intern positions with the Intellectual Property And Entrepreneurship Law Clinic and the Connecticut Urban Legal Initiative, both in Hartford, and the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General in Newark. While in law school, Ms. Shamailova served as one of the first advocates under “Desmond’s Law” in the state of Connecticut, the first law of its kind allowing lawyers and law students to serve as advocates for justice in animal abuse cases. While serving as an advocate, Ms. Shamailova routinely met with prosecutors, judges, and advocacy organizations.

Ms. Shamailova earned her J.D. with Intellectual Property Certificate from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she served as Symposium Editor of the Connecticut Journal of International Law, and her B.A. from George Washington University. She is admitted to practice in the states of New Jersey and New York.
