Tyson & Mendes Announces Four New Partners Michael Drews, Candice Hamant, Allison Lawrence and David Ramirez Promoted to Partner

Leading insurance and civil litigation defense firm Tyson & Mendes LLP announced today the promotion of Michael Drews, Candice Hamant, Allison Lawrence and David Ramirez to partner. Drews joins the firm’s partnership in Denver, Hamant and Lawrence in Northern California, and Ramirez in the firm’s San Diego headquarters.

“At Tyson & Mendes, we pride ourselves on promoting more attorneys and providing a faster path to partnership than any other law firm,” said Strategic Managing Partner Robert Tyson. “Each of our newest partners has proved themselves to be dedicated, hardworking professionals and there is no doubt that they will continue to succeed.”

Previously senior counsel at Tyson & Mendes, Drews has a diverse background with cases that draw from several practice areas, including professional liability, premises liability, personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, insurance law and bad-faith litigation, employment law, interstate trucking and transportation law, commercial law, and construction defects. Drews is skilled in evaluating his cases, developing a theory, and working toward favorable dispositions for his clients short of trial, such as settling with mediation. He earned his Juris Doctor from the Hofstra University School of Law.

Hamant has been an attorney at Tyson & Mendes since 2018. Her practice focuses on general liability, construction litigation and premises liability. Hamant has extensive litigation experience, including representing individuals and businesses in California state and federal district courts. In addition to her work with the firm, Hamant is a founding member of the Vietnamese American Bar Association of Northern California and a founding organizer of the inaugural National Conference of Vietnamese American Attorneys. She earned her Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University School of Law.

Lawrence also joined Tyson & Mendes in 2018. Focusing on general litigation, premises liability and personal injury matters, Lawrence has litigation experience defending clients in both civil and criminal California state courts and has successfully argued hundreds of cases in jury and bench trials, evidentiary hearings, and settlement negotiations. Lawrence has argued numerous appeals with great success and has had a brief certified to the California Court of Appeals. She earned her Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University School of Law.

Ramirez joined Tyson & Mendes as senior counsel in 2011. His 10 years of practice at Tyson & Mendes have focused primarily on general liability, commercial and residential construction, and insurance litigation. His extensive litigation experience includes representing individuals and businesses across all California state and federal district courts. Ramirez has successfully resolved a variety of cases involving complex business, construction defects, insurance coverage and class action disputes. He earned his Juris Doctor from University of San Diego School of Law.
