Foley Gardere Adds Technology Transactional Partner To Dallas Office
The Technology Transactions & Outsourcing Practice in the Dallas, TX offices of Foley Gardere has just taken a strong step forward with the acquisition of Dr. Guy Birkenmeier, who has joined the firm as a partner.
Most recently with Baker & McKenzie, where he was a partner in the intellectual property practice group, Dr. Birkenmeier will advise a diverse range of clients, from universities to Fortune 500 companies and energy start-ups as to the various IP considerations involved in technology transactions, particularly those in the biotechnology and healthcare sectors.
As stated in a press release from Foley Gardere, Dr. Birkenmeier will provide counsel on asset evaluation, licensing, acquisition and sales. He will be brought in to guide clients throughout the entire lifecycle of transactions in their respective interests.
Dr. Birkenmeier touted a ten-year history as a microscopy, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry and plant physiology researcher before beginning his legal career. He holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Washington State University.

Dr. Birkenmeier’s past work includes the defense of a Fortune 500 food company’s key patents against ex parte reexamination, providing portfolio counsel for a biotechnology organization in relation to its multi-million dollar IPO on NASDAQ, and advising an international health care entity on its acquisition of an immuno-oncology business.
