New Barnes & Thornburg Office in San Diego Led by Troy Zander
Summary: Barnes & Thornburg expanded its California presence with the addition of an office in San Diego.
Barnes & Thornburg announced the opening of a San Diego office. Renowned California attorney Troy Zander will lead the office as the partner-in-charge. This office will be the second California office for the law firm, who opened its Los Angeles office in 2011, and 14th office overall.
Managing partner Bob Grand said, “Troy brings an extensive practice that presents exciting growth opportunities for the firm in California and nationally. Since opening our Los Angeles office seven years ago this month, we’ve grown our California presence to more than 50 attorneys spanning numerous practices. With establishing a San Diego office, we look forward to building on this momentum.”
Zander is an experienced lender-side financing attorney. He focuses on life sciences and technology, as well as advising clients on traditional commercial leveraged debt financings, bridge loans, and venture debt financings. He joins from Cooley LLP.
He said, “Barnes & Thornburg’s national platform and practice mix – combined with its low cost structure and value-based approach – presents an ideal fit for my practice, particularly within California’s vibrant life sciences and tech ecosystem, and the diverse lending community that supports it. Barnes & Thornburg has built a solid reputation in Southern California in a relatively short period of time, and I’m excited to extend that brand into San Diego.”
The San Diego office plans to expand in litigation, labor and employment, corporate, real estate, and intellectual property. Los Angeles managing partner David Allen added, “This is just the latest example of Barnes & Thornburg seizing opportunities for strategic growth and making moves that coincide with the needs of clients in key markets. We’re looking forward to working with Troy on expanding our presence in Southern California.”
Zander earned his J.D. from the University of California San Diego School of Law and a B.A. from the University of California San Diego.
