Honigman Adds IP Partner Simeon Papacostas
Summary: Honigman strengthened its Intellectual Property group by adding partner Simeon Papacostas to the Chicago office.
Law firm Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP has continued the expansion of their Chicago office by adding an intellectual property partner. Simeon Papacostas will be part of the Intellectual Property department and the Intellectual Property Litigation and Life Science Litigation groups. He joins from Kirkland & Ellis, where he was a partner.

Honigman Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Foltyn said, “Simeon is an excellent example of the top-tier legal talent we continue to attract to our growing Chicago office. Papacostas will focus on patent litigation matters in federal courts and represent clients in sectors like life sciences, drilling and oilfield services, computer hardware, video games, and consumer products. He will also advise clients in post-grant proceedings that go to the patent office and patent-related antitrust issues and trademark counseling.
Papacostas said, “Joining the Honigman team is an ideal opportunity as the firm has one of the best patent litigation practices in the country. Working side-by-side with world-class litigators and utilizing the firm’s growing life sciences capabilities will significantly benefit my existing and future clients.”
He received his J.D. from Washington University School of Law and a B.S. from Yale University in Biomedical Engineering.
The Intellectual Property department has seen significant growth in the past few years with the addition of nine attorneys last year. The department has grown to have around 55 attorneys in Chicago and Michigan.
