Russ will focus his work on M&A deals, secured financings, and related projects in the energy value chain such as pipelines, refineries, gathering systems, traditional and renewable power plants. He does this by counseling investors, developers, and operating companies that have significant real estate assets. For energy and infrastructure clients, Russ negotiates easements and rights-of-way, surface-use agreements, renewable power leases, and ground leases for industrial and commercial uses.

Managing partner of the Dallas office, Mark Bayer, said, “Will has handled a variety of real estate transactions for leading energy companies in Texas and across the country. He can lead complex projects from beginning to end, and he does so with the practical, business-oriented approach sought by our clients.”

Since Barnes & Thornburg opened the Dallas office two years ago, they have grown to have 14 attorneys. The firm recently added Bill Jones, former general counsel to Texas Governor Rick Perry. Russ also joins his former colleague at Vinson & Elkins, Elizabeth Brandon.

Russ received his A.B. from Princeton University and his J.D. from Harvard Law. He is admitted to practice law in Texas.
