Human Resources Law (HR Law) pertains to employees and their rights. This deals with hiring, firing, employee benefits, wages, paychecks, and overtime. It should also be mentioned that HR Law deals with workplace safety issues, privacy, and preventing discrimination and harassment.
Additionally, all HR professionals must understand federal and state employment laws, HR/employment laws, and regulations administered by the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.

Compliance issues continue to become more complex as well. Government compliance regulations regarding occupational safety and health (OSHA), occupational safety and health management systems (ISO 45001), equal employment opportunity, compensation, payroll, and workplace privacy are on the rise across industries, and these regulations impact even small companies.
