A law firm in Atlanta is seeking an Environmental Attorney with 5+ years of experience to advise clients on various environmental matters, including mergers and acquisitions, permitting, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance. The candidate will possess strong writing and communication skills and will interface with colleagues and clients regularly.

 

Duties:

  • Advise clients on environmental matters related to mergers and acquisitions, real estate, tax credits, and financing transactions.
  • Assist with permitting issues concerning stormwater, air, and water emissions.
  • Provide counsel on risk mitigation strategies and compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
  • Address emerging contaminants and advise on renewable energy projects.
  • Handle matters related to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
  • Interface with colleagues across offices and practice groups and engage directly with clients.
  • Draft legal documents, including agreements, permits, and compliance reports.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 5 years of environmental law experience in the public and/or private sector.
  • Experience with federal environmental laws and standards, including CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA, and others.
  • Transactional experience related to environmental matters.
  • Familiarity with state and local environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Preferred: Experience with pollution legal liability insurance and prior defense sites.
  • Portable business is preferred.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of environmental laws and regulations.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical advice.
  • Effective collaboration and interpersonal skills.
