Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an experienced intellectual property attorney specializing in patent law and focusing on synthetic organic chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmaceutical sciences. Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in synthetic organic chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Conduct comprehensive research to support patent applications and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provide legal counsel and strategic advice to clients regarding intellectual property matters.
  • Analyze and assess the patentability of inventions, conduct prior art searches, and prepare opinions.
  • Collaborate with inventors, scientists, and other legal professionals to develop effective patent strategies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Ph.D. or master’s degree in organic chemistry or related field.
  • Admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia.
  • Admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Education:

  • Ph.D. or master’s degree in organic chemistry or related field.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in the District of Columbia.
  • Admission to practice before the USPTO.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Strong understanding of synthetic organic chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmaceutical sciences.
