A law firm is seeking an Employee Benefits Attorney for their Buffalo, NY, location.

Job Overview:

The Employee Benefits Attorney will provide clients with comprehensive counseling and advocacy services regarding the design, establishment, maintenance, and operation of various retirement, welfare, executive compensation, and fringe benefit plans. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, and transactional matters within the employee benefits realm. Strong academic credentials and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to clients on employee benefits matters, including retirement plans, welfare plans, executive compensation, and fringe benefits.
  • Assist clients in designing, establishing, and maintaining various benefit plans, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Conduct due diligence in mergers and acquisitions involving employee benefits plans.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including plan documents, contracts, and agreements.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, administrative proceedings, and litigation related to employee benefits issues.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employee benefits law.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employee benefits laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with mergers, acquisitions, due diligence, and transactional matters is preferred.
  • Strong academic credentials, including a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
