Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a 2nd to 4th year Associate Attorney to join its Data, Privacy, and Cybersecurity practice group. This position will focus on advising clients during cybersecurity incidents and on broader privacy and data protection compliance issues. The ideal candidate will assist clients across technology and innovation sectors, manage regulatory investigations, support M&A and strategic transactions, and help grow the firm’s cybersecurity advisory services. Recruitment is being conducted on behalf of the firm.

Location:

  • Palo Alto, CA

Duties:

  • Advise clients on data breaches and cybersecurity incidents

  • Guide clients through privacy and cybersecurity compliance obligations

  • Represent clients in regulatory inquiries and investigations following incidents

  • Support technology-related corporate transactions, including due diligence and risk assessments

  • Counsel cybersecurity companies on compliance related to threat intelligence and security research

  • Contribute to the development of internal protocols, incident response plans, and legal strategies

  • Stay current on developments in cybersecurity regulations and industry best practices

Requirements:

  • 2–4 years of legal experience in cybersecurity, privacy, regulatory, or technology law

  • Experience with incident response or investigations preferred

  • Familiarity with U.S. and international data privacy frameworks a plus

  • Government or regulatory agency experience valued

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Strong academic credentials required

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction of intended office location

  • CIPP or similar certification is a plus

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong legal research and analytical abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters efficiently
