A law firm in Wilmington is seeking a Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Patent Agent. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, solid law firm or industry experience, and excellent writing and communication skills. The primary focus of this role is patent preparation and prosecution with a specialization in medical devices and mechanical engineering.

 

Duties:

  • Conducting patent searches and analyzing prior art to assess patentability.
  • Drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Collaborating with inventors and technical experts to understand inventions and extract essential information for patent drafting.
  • Providing legal advice on patent strategy and portfolio management.
  • Conducting patent-related due diligence and infringement analysis.
  • Managing and maintaining client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and effective communication.

 

Requirements:

  • A degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering other engineering disciplines with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products will be considered.
  • Admission to the USPTO is mandatory.
  • High level of academic achievement.

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering. Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) is a plus.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
