Job Overview:
A dynamic law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its expanding Workers' Compensation Defense team. This role involves defending workers' compensation claims, including cases for civilians working in war zones under the Defense Base Act, as well as handling related personal injury and employment litigation. The position provides the opportunity for participation in administrative hearings, depositions, and trials, with the flexibility of virtual or in-person proceedings. This role is ideal for both newly licensed attorneys and experienced legal professionals with a strong commitment to client service and defense litigation.

Location

  • Texas (Hybrid and remote options available after establishment in the role)

Duties

  • Defend federal and state workers' compensation claims, including cases under the Defense Base Act
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, depositions, and trials
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and respond to discovery requests
  • Develop and execute discovery and litigation plans
  • Maintain effective client communication and prepare regular client reports
  • Collaborate with supervising attorneys to manage cases from inception to resolution

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas, in good standing
  • Strong commitment to defending claims under the Defense Base Act and other workers' compensation cases
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload, providing timely and high-quality legal work

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active law license in Texas

Skills

  • Proficiency in legal drafting, discovery management, and litigation planning
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for client and team interactions
  • Ability to manage cases independently while collaborating with supervising attorneys
