Tax Controversy Counsel

A law firm located in Atlanta, GA, is actively seeking an experienced Tax Controversy Counsel with a strong background in tax litigation. The ideal candidate will hold a Juris Doctorate (JD) and an LLM in Taxation, be licensed to practice in the State Bar, and have 8-10 years of comprehensive experience in tax litigation. The position requires a candidate with tax court experience, a proven record of handling civil and criminal tax controversy cases, and familiarity with whistleblower claims and voluntary offshore disclosures. Strong academic credentials and analytical skills are essential for success in this role.

Duties:

• Provide expert counsel in tax controversy matters before administrative agencies and courts.
• Handle complex civil and criminal tax cases, including whistleblower claims and voluntary offshore disclosures.
• Offer strategic legal advice to clients on intricate tax issues.
• Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis.
• Draft and review a variety of legal documents, including petitions, motions, and briefs.
• Collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to develop effective case strategies.
• Attend and participate in tax court hearings and proceedings.
• Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations.
• Maintain meticulous and accurate case records.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate (JD) and LLM in Taxation are required.
