A law firm seeks an Assistant General Counsel in New York City, NY. This role involves providing legal support and guidance to the firm, working closely with the Office of General Counsel. The position requires handling various legal matters, including drafting legal documents, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing litigation, and advising on corporate governance.

Duties

  • Draft standard legal forms and documents.
  • Assist in managing and resolving employment issues within the firm.
  • Provide legal guidance on a wide range of issues.
  • Analyze legal problems and offer practical solutions.
  • Advise on compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Review and draft transactional contracts and documents.
  • Assist in contract negotiations.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement compliance programs and policies.
  • Conduct internal compliance audits and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide advice on legal ethics issues.
  • Support litigation and dispute resolution management.
  • Coordinate with external counsel and assist in legal strategy development.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Five years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of labor and employment laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local workplace and employment law.
  • Understanding of ethical rules and regulations.
  • Experience within a General Counsel office preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in relevant jurisdiction.
