Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in New York City, NY, is seeking an experienced Commercial Contracts Attorney to join its Business Practice Group. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned professional with a portable client portfolio, particularly those with experience servicing clients in the consumer goods and consumer products industries. The role offers the chance to collaborate with a diverse team of legal experts across multiple offices while providing strategic counsel on complex commercial agreements.

Duties:

  • Draft, negotiate, and review a wide range of commercial contracts, including Manufacturing Agreements, Distribution Agreements, Sales Broker Agreements, Raw Material Supply Agreements, Packaging Supply Agreements, Equipment Leases, Equipment Purchase Agreements, and Product Purchase and Sale/Supply Agreements.

  • Provide strategic legal advice on contract law and risk management across a variety of industries.

  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys in multiple offices across diverse practice groups.

  • Maintain and grow a portable book of business by delivering exceptional client service.

  • Engage in professional development opportunities, including mentorship and pro bono initiatives.

  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience handling commercial contracts.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage substantial responsibilities independently and collaboratively.

  • Commitment to client service excellence and proactive communication.

  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse and inclusive team environment.

  • A portable book of business is required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills:

  • Exceptional contract drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.

  • Outstanding writing ability with strong academic credentials.

  • Effective interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently under deadlines.

  • Strong understanding of commercial law principles and contract risk mitigation strategies.
