Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected law firm located in Walnut Creek, CA, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Litigation Associate to join its civil litigation team. This role provides an excellent opportunity for early-career attorneys to gain hands-on experience managing diverse cases from inception through resolution. The position offers direct exposure to litigation involving personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, construction disputes, and commercial matters. The selected candidate will collaborate with experienced litigators and enjoy mentorship from senior professionals, all within a supportive and dynamic environment.

Duties:

• Handle civil litigation cases, including case strategy, pleadings, motion practice, and discovery

• Represent clients in court for hearings, motions, and trials as appropriate

• Take and defend depositions

• Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations

• Maintain effective communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel

• Prepare for and attend trial, with support from senior attorneys

• Collaborate with legal team members to meet case deadlines and objectives

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of civil litigation experience in a law firm setting

• Ability to conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and discovery documents

• Experience with depositions and courtroom arguments preferred

• Demonstrated ability to manage tasks independently and handle client communications

• Trial experience is a plus

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Must be licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of California
