Job Title: Mid-Level Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm based in San Francisco, CA, with a strong presence in labor, employment, and education law, is seeking a mid-level associate to join its litigation team. This opportunity, offered through a legal recruiting agency, provides a dynamic and flexible hybrid work environment focused on advancing public sector employment law. The role is designed for a skilled litigator with a deep understanding of employment statutes and courtroom advocacy, particularly in matters involving wage and hour regulations, PAGA, and FLSA claims.

Duties:

  • Handle direct client communication and strategy development

  • Conduct substantive interviews with witnesses

  • Oversee and manage discovery, including document review and responses

  • Take and defend depositions

  • Prepare and argue motions, including dispositive and procedural filings

  • Draft legal briefs such as:

    • Motions for summary judgment

    • Anti-SLAPP motions

    • Demurrers

    • Motions for judgment on the pleadings

  • Appear regularly in court for motion hearings

  • Collaborate on trial preparation and dispute resolution proceedings

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in California

  • At least 5 years of hands-on litigation experience in employment law

  • Familiarity with wage and hour matters, including class/PAGA claims and FLSA

  • Demonstrated ability to manage cases independently

  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with both in-office and remote tasks

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Current and valid California Bar membership

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing capabilities

  • Confident oral advocate in hearings and proceedings

  • Strategic thinking in litigation planning and execution

  • Excellent organizational and case management skills

  • Comfortable with fast-paced, high-stakes legal environments

  • Experience in public sector representation (preferred)
