A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a Patent Agent with 2+ years of experience to support the firm's patent prosecution practice. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Graduate Degree, proven experience drafting patent applications, and expertise in electronics, semi-conductors, circuitry, optics, and lasers. The candidate must be registered to practice in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and, if appropriate, licensed to practice law in their respective state.

 

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications and prosecute applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Clearly and concisely draft scientific and technical patent applications.
  • Conduct technical research using available resources to support patent-related matters.
  • Manage internal and client-driven deadlines with assignments from multiple partners and clients.
  • Provide expertise in electronics, semi-conductors, circuitry, optics, and lasers.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to protect technology with patents.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in a relevant field.
  • 2+ years of experience drafting patent applications.
  • Specialization in electronics, semi-conductors, circuitry, optics, and lasers.
  • Registered to practice in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Attention to detail, excellent writing skills, and analytical skills.

 

Education:

Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in a relevant field.

 

Certifications:

  • Registration to practice in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • State licensure to practice law (if applicable).

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting patent applications.
  • Technical expertise in electronics, semi-conductors, circuitry, optics, and lasers.
  • Ability to conduct technical research.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
