Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a skilled Patent Lawyer with 2 years of patent prosecution experience. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in various technologies, including 5G, Wi-Fi, artificial intelligence (AI), processor and memory systems, image processing, and RF front-end. Strong academic credentials, exceptional analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills are essential. An Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent is preferred, and candidates must be registered with or eligible for registration with the USPTO and admitted to the Bar in good standing or eligible to waive in.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct patent prosecution activities for clients in 5G, Wi-Fi, AI, processor and memory systems, image processing, and RF front-end technologies.
  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO.
  • Conduct patentability and infringement analyses.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel on patent-related matters to clients.
  • Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify patentable inventions and develop patent strategies.
  • Manage patent portfolios and perform patent portfolio analysis.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Extensive experience in patent prosecution related to 5G, Wi-Fi, AI, processor and memory systems, image processing, and RF front-end technologies.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Registered with or eligible for registration with the USPTO.
  • Admitted to the Bar in good standing or eligible to waive in.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A bachelor's or advanced degree in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Registration with the United States Patent Trademark Office ("USPTO") or eligibility for registration is required.
  • Admission to the Bar in good standing or eligibility to waive is required.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in patent prosecution procedures and USPTO rules and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of 5G, Wi-Fi, AI, processor and memory systems, image processing, and RF front-end technologies.
  • Ability to conduct patentability and infringement analyses.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for patent prosecution and legal research.
