A law firm in Fairfax, VA, is seeking an Entry-Level Associate Attorney with a strong interest in domestic law. The ideal candidate will be involved in handling cases related to divorce, child custody/support, adoptions, domestic violence, and protective orders. This role requires active participation in litigation, including attending return hearings and pretrial conferences. Proficiency in Spanish is considered a significant advantage. Duties:

  • Assist in handling legal matters in areas of domestic law, including divorce, child custody, support issues, adoptions, and protective orders.
  • Conduct and assist with legal research to support case preparation and strategy development.
  • Attend and actively participate in return hearings and pretrial conferences under the guidance of experienced attorneys.
  • Draft legal documents and correspondences as directed by supervising attorneys.
  • Engage in client consultations and maintain effective communication throughout the case process.
  • Collaborate with legal staff and other attorneys to provide excellent legal services and client satisfaction.
  • Develop litigation skills under the mentorship of senior attorneys, including learning to manage various aspects of trial preparation and execution.

Requirements:

  • Must be a member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
  • A demonstrated interest in domestic law and litigation.
  • Proficiency in legal research and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Spanish language fluency is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership and good standing with the Virginia State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and client management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  • Proficient in using legal research tools and software.
