Job Title: Energy, Environmental, And Infrastructure Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in New York City, NY, is seeking a mid-level associate attorney to support its expanding Energy, Environmental, and Infrastructure practice. The position is ideal for a candidate with 3 to 7 years of experience handling sophisticated transactional matters related to energy, natural resources, and infrastructure. The role includes engagement in project development, M&A, and complex commercial agreements, particularly within the renewable energy sector. This opportunity is offered through a legal recruiting firm on behalf of the hiring law firm.

Duties:

  • Manage and advise on transactional matters involving energy and natural resources projects

  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements such as:

    • Power purchase agreements (PPAs)

    • Operations and maintenance (O&M) agreements

    • Shared facilities agreements

    • Build-to-transfer and procurement contracts

  • Participate in M&A transactions and joint ventures in the energy sector

  • Support project development initiatives involving renewable and traditional energy assets

  • Contribute to complex deal structuring and documentation

  • Interact with clients, counterparties, and stakeholders on high-value projects

  • Handle or support EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts for energy facilities

  • Provide transactional support for financing arrangements within the sector

  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams across practice areas

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of post-JD experience at a law firm with a strong transactional background

  • Direct experience in energy-related transactions, preferably within renewable energy

  • Familiarity with infrastructure, construction, or natural resource legal frameworks

  • Exposure to energy-related M&A, joint ventures, or financing structures

  • Experience in oil and gas transactions is considered an asset

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (or ability to obtain promptly)

Skills:

  • Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills

  • Strong business acumen and deal management capabilities

  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external parties

  • Effective communicator with excellent client-facing abilities

  • Proven capacity to handle complex legal and regulatory matters with autonomy
