A law firm in Chicago, Illinois, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Partner with strong leadership, communication, and business development skills. The ideal candidate will have a portable book of business and be able to step into meaningful client relationships while contributing to the firm's succession plan.

 

Duties:

  • Provide leadership and guidance on data privacy and cybersecurity matters to clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor.
  • Advise clients on compliance with data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
  • Assist clients in developing and implementing data privacy and cybersecurity policies and procedures.
  • Handle data breach response and incident management.
  • Represent clients in data privacy and cybersecurity litigation and regulatory investigations.
  • Stay current on emerging trends and developments in data privacy and cybersecurity law.
  • Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and staff.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exceptional leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be currently licensed in Illinois or eligible to practice law in Illinois through comity or by sitting for the IL Bar exam.
  • Portable book of business required.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Certification in privacy or cybersecurity (e.g., CIPP, CISSP) is preferred but not required.

 

Skills:

  • Extensive experience in data privacy and cybersecurity law.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Strong business development skills.
  • Excellent legal research and writing abilities.
  • Experience managing and leading teams.
  • Proficiency in legal software and technology.
