Of Counsel with 7+ years of experience

A law firm in Sacramento, CA, seeks an experienced Of Counsel to join their Employment Law practice. The candidate will handle various employment-related litigation and advisory tasks, defend against claims and agency charges of discrimination, and play a pivotal role in mentoring junior associates. This position is ideal for a seasoned attorney with deep expertise in employment law, looking to contribute to a dynamic team and take on a leadership role within the firm.

Duties:

• Defend and litigate various employment-related cases, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, contract disputes, employment torts, and non-compete cases.
• Represent employers in court proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, and before administrative agencies in both individual and class/collective actions.
• Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to employers on various employment and labor law issues, ensuring compliance with current laws and regulations.
• Develop and conduct training sessions for clients on employment law best practices and compliance.
• Manage caseload independently, from initial intake to trial or settlement, including strategy development, discovery, and courtroom presentation.
• Act as a mentor to junior associates, guiding them in case management, legal research, and trial preparation.
• Serve as first or second chair in trials, demonstrating strong litigation skills and the ability to present cases in court effectively.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in employment law, with substantial litigation experience.
• Must be admitted to the California Bar or can obtain admission promptly.
• In-depth understanding of state and federal agency procedures related to employment disputes.
• Proven first or second-chair trial experience is highly preferred.
• Strong project management skills, capable of handling complex cases with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and persuasively.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Current membership in the California State Bar or ability to gain admission.
