Job Title: Associate Attorney

Duties:

  • Conduct client intake calls to assess legal needs and communicate firm services

  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, and settlement agreements

  • Organize and maintain case files in coordination with legal support staff

  • Perform legal research and draft legal memoranda

  • Attend hearings and legal proceedings under supervision

  • Advise clients on conflict resolution strategies and case progression

  • Review and explain billing procedures, retainers, and payment options to clients

  • Serve as the liaison for client communications regarding payments and agreements

  • Participate in firm marketing efforts and referral outreach

  • Develop legal strategies and case theories in professional licensing and administrative law matters

  • Contribute to a team-based legal practice environment

Requirements:

  • Active law license in North Carolina

  • Must have passed the North Carolina bar exam

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines

  • Willingness to work in both collaborative and independent settings

  • Comfort with client interaction, including intake and ongoing communication

  • The capacity to work in hybrid settings after the initial onboarding period

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active member of the North Carolina State Bar

  • Membership in the American Bar Association (ABA) is preferred

Skills:

  • Proficiency with cloud-based software tools (e.g., Google Drive) and legal practice management platforms

  • Familiarity with videoconferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet)

  • Ability to use task management and calendaring systems

  • Experience in sales or client services is a plus

  • Self-starter attitude with a focus on operational compliance

  • Ability to research, draft, and support litigation in administrative and Superior Court settings
