Job Overview:
A growing law firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to handle professional license defense and administrative law matters. This position is ideal for a self-motivated litigator who enjoys client interaction, courtroom work, and being part of a collaborative, non-traditional legal team. Attorneys in this role will represent clients in settlement conferences, hearings, and investigations, primarily before licensing boards and state agencies. Candidates with a desire to grow in a niche and impactful legal field are encouraged to apply.

Location:

  • Raleigh, North Carolina

Duties:

  • Represent clients in contested case hearings before licensing boards, state agencies, and the Office of Administrative Hearings

  • Attend settlement conferences, Superior Court appeals, and investigator interviews

  • Conduct legal research and prepare detailed legal strategies

  • Draft legal pleadings, motions, affidavits, and settlement agreements

  • Manage client communications and maintain up-to-date case files

  • Develop and present legal theories during hearings and conferences

  • Serve as lead attorney on assigned matters after a probationary and training period

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff for efficient case resolution

  • Deliver a high-quality client experience, emphasizing responsiveness and empathy

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Licensed and in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar

  • Valid driver’s license for in-state travel to hearings and client meetings

  • Experience or strong interest in professional licensing or administrative law

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities

  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented

  • Proficiency with Google Drive and law firm management software

  • Comfortable using Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams

  • Ability to handle multiple matters and prioritize competing tasks

  • Client-focused with strong interpersonal skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in North Carolina
